Pizza + Burgers = Pizza Burger Sliders!
It’s Sunday Funday! The best day for football, family, friends, and FOOD!!! While we usually eat healthy meals throughout the week, when the weekend rolls around, it’s okay to splurge a little bit! Dylan and I love pizza and we love burgers so here is an AMAZING recipe for Pizza Burger Sliders! You can even omit the buns for a healthier carb-free option. But in this case, I found these delicious mini pretzel buns, and I just had to have them! Once the sliders are formed and cooked, your kids will have fun putting on the sauce, cheese, and pepperoni! YUMMM…
Here is a fun and delicious recipe for Pizza Burger Sliders that you can prep and cook in less than 30 minutes:
Prep/Cook Time: 25-30 min.
1 lb. lean ground beef (or ground turkey)
Burger seasonings (optional):
1/2 tsp kosher salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 3 Tbsp. Mrs. Dash Hamburger Grilling Blend OR 1/2 Tbsp. minced onion and garlic powder and some oregano
6 slider-sized buns (For extra deliciousness, use pretzel buns!)
1 cup marinara sauce
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (or pizza cheese blend)
12 slices pepperoni
Here’s what to do:
Remove ground beef from package and place in a mixing bowl. Add burger seasonings and 1/4 cup of the marinara sauce. Blend well and equally divide into 6 portions (think large meatball size).
Shape into flattened slider patties, about 1/2 inch thick or less. I have a burger press that makes it so easy to get perfectly sized flattened burgers and sliders! You can pick one up at your local Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, or similar store.
For best results, pay fry sliders (or grill) on medium high heat for 4-5 minutes per side. Meanwhile, add marinara sauce to a bowl and microwave 1-2 minutes to warm through and preheat oven to high broil.
Once cooked on both sides, place slider patties on a foil-lined baking sheet (I ALWAYS line my baking sheets with foil to cut down on clean-up time!) and top each slider with marinara sauce, cheese, and 2 slices of pepperoni. This is a great time for your kids to help!
Place sliders inside buns and serve with marinara sauce on the side.
