Happy National Margarita Day! Yes, it’s a real holiday and it happens every year on February 22, so cheers! But you don’t need a special holiday to celebrate because any day is a good day for this Pineapple Coconut Margarita! While many restaurants like On The Border, Margaritaville, and Chili’s are offering up some sweet drink deals to celebrate this special occasion, you can easily make your favorite margarita in the comfort of you own home! Margaritas are actually super simple to make. Generally, all you need for a classic margarita recipe is 2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce triple sec (Cointreau is a popular brand), and 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice. Shake all ingredients with ice and BOOM! You have yourself a delicious margarita. And of course, you can rim the glass with salt for a tasty garnish.
I’m a sucker for fun-flavored drinks, for example, just check out my Cucumber Vodka Cooler. So when I saw that 1800 Tequila made a coconut flavored tequila, I knew that it would make a really yummy margarita! The subtle coconut infused tequila pairs perfectly with the pineapple juice, and the fresh lime juice gives it that perfect margarita zing!
If you love spicy, and want to give this drink some heat, try adding sliced jalapeño!
