Dream Dinners Family Dinner

What is Dream Dinners?

I’ve been going to the Poway Dream Dinners location for the past four years so I consider myself quite the expert! Their goal is to make dinnertime, family time by offering freezer-ready meals, prepared and customized by you. Store your meals in the freezer and take them out as needed, making your life easier and tastier. Forget costly trips to the supermarket and performing complicated cooking tasks while starving kiddos are begging for food. All the prep work is done and complete meals can often be served in 30 minutes or less, which means more time with your family. And nothing says family time like bonding over a delicious home-cooked dinner!

How does it work?

The first step is signing up online to find the location that is best for you. Pick a date and time from the posted session dates, and then have fun selecting your menu items. You’ll be drooling over delicious options like Chicken and Shrimp Cabonara, Sesame Ginger Salmon with Oven Roasted Broccoli, and Mini Turkey Meatloaves with Bacon Ranch Green Beans.

Got picky eaters? No problem! Kids will love menu options like Pizza Burger Sliders on Mini Pretzel Buns (Dylan’s all-time fave!), Build Your Own Quesadillas, and Family Pizza Night. We love that there’s something for everyone!

Once your session date has arrived, bring a cooler to transport your dinners home in. Wear whatever you like and aprons are provided so you won’t have to worry about the accidental spill or splatter. Upon arrival, you’ll check-in with a staff member who will get you set up and guide you through the super easy process. There will be a station set up for every menu item, so simply walk on up and follow the step-by-step instructions provided.

Everything you need to make your meal is already prepared, so thankfully no chopping, slicing, or complicated culinary techniques are required. All pre-cut and fresh ingredients are clearly labeled and come with color-coded measuring spoons to make it even easier. The best part: you don’t have to clean up. If you make a mess, just leave it, and the staff is right there to clean up after you’re done with the station. Once you’ve assembled your meal, you’ll store it in their jumbo freezer next to your name, wash your hands, and continue on to assemble your next meal.

After assembling all of your meals, you’re ready to check out. But first, be sure to check out the sides and sweets freezer to add on any extra items that catch your eye like Parmesan Garlic Steak Fries, Almond Green Beans, or Double Chocolate Cookies (yes please!). There’s even yummy breakfast items like Blueberry Scones and Western Omelets. While the staff is packing up your meals, be sure to check out next month’s menu and try some delicious samples of upcoming items and desserts.

Place your packaged meals in your freezer and family meal prep is done. Whenever you’re ready, follow the thawing and heating instructions on the recipe card for each dish. Presto! A fabulous, home-cooked dinner the whole family will love to eat.

Bonus Tips:

  • Bring the kids! Many Dream Dinners locations encourage you to make dinner prep a family affair and welcome your little sous chefs. Kids can get a hands-on experience by helping you assemble your meals. Be sure to check with your specific location first to make sure it’s okay to bring them. Keep in mind, they’ll need to be tall enough to reach the spices. If not, enlist their help at home with the easy to follow directions.
  • The Made for You service allows you to order your dinners online and have the store assemble them for you. There is a nominal fee for this service, but it’s perfect for those who are super short on time but don’t want to skip a month of delicious meals.
  • Plate Points is the rewards system that allows you to earn points to get perks like Dinner Dollars and exclusive gifts. To earn even more Plate Points, rate your meals online, share activities on Facebook, or host a Taste Party where your friends and family are invited to assemble three meals at a super low cost.
